Robert and his Bacon Plate

Robert is in my glass fusion class. He also loves dremmel tools(small drills and saws for crafts) and working with wood. He cuts with great skill and patience. There was a time I was snobbish about art, not appreciating crafts the way I should. It was fine arts or nothing, but I have learned people enjoy and love what they do. It is rewarding, healing and brings them great joy.

The wood looks woven, but it is not. Each section, layer by layer is cut and put together carefully with almost laser like cutting skills. Robert loves working with wood.

Robert is in my fused glass class. He loves glass and crafts. He can cut glass so quickly and straight. He and his friend drive a long distance form another town to take the fused glass class. Last week he decided to work with a different color of glass. It was a beautiful red streaked color. He cut it carefully and gave it a woven look.
But he didn't expect what happened...sometimes art throws a surprise. His tray came out looking like strips of bacon! He laughed and we took a picture. Who knows where he will use his bacon tray?!
