If you are a teacher in public schools here in the United States you have an opportunity to go to state wide art education conferences and national level conferences. The conferences are wonderful ways to take workshops on different subjects for teaching ideas and to sharpen your teaching skills. It is also a good way to network and share with fellow art educators and artists. In the 37 years I taught I went to everyone possible: Miami, Orlando, Chicago, Jacksonville, Kansas City, New Orleans and many more..........
HAND MADE POP UP BOOKS
These are a few examples of the artist made pop up book. In the photo above you can see the use of innovative materials. Tags with tabs that are usual used in office work become pages for a book in this example.
In this almost Zebra styled book black ink on water color paper is used to make the design that becomes the base for the overall surface decoration for the book. The artist also uses an accordion style technique in the make up of the book creation.
This approach is unique where each section can be turned or interchanged. As you can see this was a fun and innovative workshop. Wonderful techniques to take back to the classroom for students and ideas for the artist teacher themselves.
Art conferences will have hundreds of workshops with new products, new ideas and the fellowship of being with other artist. It is a wonderful format for strengthening arts education in your country or you area.
