Video of Raku Firing Process

Raku Firing

This is a video I found for you on you tube.  It is of two artist with different styles who do raku.  The video shows the firing process.  This is only one type of kiln, some are made from metal trashcans and others from steel barrels and others are factory made.  With a little research and reading any one can do this and it is quite worth the effort. If you have a studio near you that does raku and has a raku kiln then that is easy to start out with.  This is something everyone should try sometime.  At night it is fun because the fire is so bright and if there is a chill in the air even better.  We do firings at my studio even in the hottest part of a Florida summer, so it can be done most anytime...just might be quite miserable at 90 degrees and high humidity.
