ARTS ALIVE!!!!

SPRUCE PINE POTTERY MARKET
Spruce Pine Pottery Show
7TH ANNUAL

Spruce Pine, North Carolina

Susan Feagan is a warm friendly artist as you can see by her wonderful smile.  I always enjoy meeting artists who are open about their work and technique.  Artists that are generous hearted and not guarded. They seem to want they best for everyone and see everyone and everything in a positive light.  Susan is like that.  I was interested in her process of getting image, text and scraffito all on her pieces.  Then I turned over a piece and so she had treated the bottom of her art as seriously as the rest of the surface and that drew me in completely.  In my own work in ceramics I am always wanted to work the bottom and have some surprise waiting underneath.  Susan teaches and directs the ceramic program at Penland, which is a wonderful art center and school.  Penland offers workshops in pottery, glassmaking, book making, jewelry and much more.  It has housing and extended time course work.  Many artists settle in the surrounding areas in towns like Burnsville and Bakersville and Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
I will include links for you and I highly recommend Penland for any arts and craft classes you may consider.  It is also in the middle of some of the most beautiful mountains one can imagine. So make it a vacation and an art class..Artcation!!!!
