IN TRANSITION

ON THE WAY TO THE MOUNTAIN STUDIO IS A RESPITE ON A LAKE IN SOUTH CAROLINA

IT IS MORE THAN A STOP TO SEE FAMILY IT IS A PLACE WHERE THE SOUL IS RESTORED WITH PEACEFUL VISTAS AND GLIMPSE OF THE NATURAL ORDER OF LIFE

CANADIAN GEESE RAISE THEIR BABIES, HERONS AND EGRETS STALK THE ISLANDS FOR FOOD MORNING AND LATE AFTERNOON, EAGLES AND OSPREY SOAR HIGH ABOVE THE LAKE ISLANDS

FISH JUMP AND FLOP MAKING EVERY WIDENING WAKES THAT REACH OUT ACROSS THE LAKE

AND THEN THE DRIVES IN THE RESERVE TO SEE ALLIGATORS, SCARLET TANAGERS, WILD PIGS, AND A MOMMA TURKEY WITH HER TINY BABIES

IN THESE MOMENT I LEAVE THE CITY BEHIND, THE NOISE OF HORNS BLOWING AND SCREECHING TIRES,  BOTTLED TRAFFIC, AND AIRPLANES NOISE

AND I BEGIN TO FIND SOLITUDE WITHIN MY SELF, AS MY SOUL QUIETS
I OFTEN THINK OF IT AS A ONION WITH MANY LAYERS PEELING AWAY, SLOUGHING OFF THE ROUGH EXTERIOR, GETTING TO THE CORE OF THE SELF.

AND THE TRANSITION BEGINS TO THE MOUNTAINS WHERE I WILL BE QUIET INSIDE, AND DELVE INTO READING AND ART.  ADVENTURES WAIT AS WELL, BUT IT IS THE JOURNEY BACK TO SELF THAT IS SO REFRESHING.

IT IS NOT UNLIKE THE MIGRATORY BIRDS WHO SEE THE ENVIRONMENT THEY NEED WITH THE SEASONS OF THE YEAR, MY SOUL SEEKS WHAT IT NEEDS FOR ITS SEASONS AS WELL.
