Art residencies are programs that allow one to go and be with other artists of different disciplines to work in a creative environment together. It allows an artist to have unbroken time in an atmosphere that promotes growth in ones art. I highly recommend applying for one of the many residencies offered throughout the USA and explore and I will also provide links to others. Bush Creek Arts( click for link.)
I have a good friend who is an art teacher and artist, Joyce Ely Walker, who has gone to art residencies for years and thoroughly loves them. She is a wonderful artist who has chosen to constantly grow as an artist her whole career. It is usually an application process and you are chose by the dedication and level of your art. It is often for mid career or emerging artists. One of my dream residencies would be Banff in Canada. Click on the link and you will see why.
